Packing Groups of Dangerous Goods

Each Class or Subclass of Dangerous Goods may be divided further into Packing Groups, depending on the level of packing required for safe transport [1].

The packing group (PG) is an indication of the relative dangers posed by substances within a Class or Subclass. There are three Packing Groups, indicated by the Roman numerals I, II and III. Substances in Packing Group I pose the greatest dangers, while those in Packing Group III pose the least.

See Classes of Dangerous Goods for examples of each PG in each Class.
